Letter from the Director

Dear Friends,

Thank you visiting our website. I have had the honor to be the director of this incredible school for 11 years and I am still fascinated as to what occurs inside the walls of Kenmont Montessori School. Our goal at KMS is to provide a loving environment where children are nurtured and encouraged to reach their fullest potential. Students are not sitting in rows of desks while the teacher stands in front of the class trying to keep the kids engaged.

When I walk into classrooms, I always ask myself three questions; are the student engaged in purposeful learning, are the students happy, and is there mutual respect in the classroom. The answers to my questions are awe-inspiring yes!

The goals of promoting respect, responsibility, and resourcefulness among all our students are evident.

It is great to see students arrive at school happy to be here. They are excited and ready to begin their day. As educators we always hear about differentiated instruction but rarely see it in traditional classrooms. At Kenmont, differentiated instruction is evident. As you walk into a classroom, it is not uncommon to see students working independently, with other peers, or with the teacher. There are a variety of multiple activities occurring. Students, however, remain focused and engaged.

I invite you to visit and explore for yourself the difference a peaceful environment does for the development of the child.

Sincerely,

Dr. Sonia B. Saenz, Director of School
